BOY SCOUTS OF THE PHILIPPINES
Boy Scouts of the Philippines aims to build up the unity of a group through nurturing responsible leaders and members. It envisions to prepare the scouts in times of difficulty through applying the scouting ideals that they have learned in real-life situations. The scouts are guided by the unit leaders (outfit advisors) of the school. The scouts together with the unit leaders attended several webinars and trainings to intensify the knowledge and skills imparted by the scouting. In collaboration with other subjects, registered scouts performed and made activities in their subjects related to Scouting. Involvement of the registered scouts in Gulayan sa tahanan school program was also one of the activities of BSP.
The Green Phoenix School E-newsletter
The Green Phoenix is a school’s official e-newsletter. It is published monthly through a Facebook Page named The Green Phoenix: PNHS-Marcelo Green School Paper. It aims to disseminate information to the school community about current events. It unfolds the writing skills and talents of the brilliant and creative students and teachers of the school. The school e-newsletter serves as the voice of teachers and students which can inspire others to soar high beyond their boundaries and to be optimistic amidst pandemic
GULAYAN SA PAARALAN
Gulayan sa Paaralan is a program not only for school learners, but also for teaching and non-teaching staff. The learners were given an integrated Performance Task for Science and TLE subjects. They were assigned to plant vegetables or herbal plants that they could harvest in the coming months. The teaching and non-teaching staff were encouraged to plant at home as part of “Gulayan sa Tahanan Project” since they are in skeletal work arrangement. The coordinator has given them some seeds to set out. These can help both the teaching & non-teaching personnel in reducing stress that they’ve felt because of the pandemic
NUMERACY PROGRAM
The Numeracy Program is a year round program. It was initiated by the Department of Education which was started last School Year 2018-2019. The objectives of the numeracy test for the teachers are: (1) to give an understanding of how and when learning develops; (2) to determine common misunderstandings that can delay learning; and (3) to enhance the skills and knowledge of the learners. The primary task of the educators is to scaffold students’ learning in Mathematics. Furthermore, the objectives of the numeracy test for the learners are: (1) to have an understanding of the responses might mean; (2) to allow oneself to develop practical ideas to address the identified needs; and (3) to contribute in building a clearer picture of mathematical analysis, concepts and decision making. Moreover, it helps our students to become numerates to these four fundamental operations in Mathematics.
Pre-Test is given every month of September while Post-Test is given in the last week of March. The teacher-in-charge will include the 20 percent struggling students in Mathematics per grade level to undergo the Numeracy Test. It is composed of Four Fundamental Operations (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division). The students who underwent Numeracy Test will be included in the intervention for the Numeracy Program.
Project DEAR (Developing and Enhancing Abilities in Reading)
The Project DEAR is a program designed for Grade 7 students who have identified deficiencies in reading. Reducing the number of students who have difficulty in reading is the primary goal of this initiative.
SULONG DUNONG
The “SULONG DUNONG” is an intervention program of Araling Panlipunan. The AP teachers from Grades 7-10 quarterly conduct intervention for those struggling students who are less performing in Araling Panlipunan subject. This intervention goal is to eradicate the failing students in every quarter. The goal is to have a 100% passing rate in every school year.
TECHNOKIDS
TechnoKids Philippines, conceptualized in 2002, is a premier computer curriculum service provider in the country. It specializes in delivering leading edge and comprehensive computer curriculum to schools and provides excellent technology skills training to teachers in the service of the schools and their students. It is one of the programs implemented by the school ICT Coordinator with the approval of the Schools Division of Parañaque. It is also implemented in all schools in Parañaque. It aims to enhance the skills and capabilities of students when it comes to modern technology.
